Privacy Policy

Introduction

Welcome to AfCFTA NTB reporting app, the platform dedicated to facilitating the resolution of trading issues between countries while ensuring your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, and protection of your personal information. By using the AfCFTA NTB reporting app, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information from our users:

  • Personal Identification Information: This includes names, contact details, and any other information that can directly identify you. This information is collected only for registration and verification purposes and is not displayed or shared with other users or countries.

  • Sensitive individual's data: With the AfCFTA NTB app, users may optionally provide their gender, age, and country of trade. This information assists policymakers in fostering equitable trade opportunities for all. Data is aggregated annually and stored separately without being directly linked to individual users or their NTB activities, allowing for the analysis of trade policy effectiveness over time while ensuring privacy

  • Country You Trade From: The NTB app exclusively records cross-border trade barriers in Africa. A focal point from each country involved, both the reporting country and the imposing country, will participate in resolving the NTB. Some NTBs may be resolved quickly, depending on the responsiveness and policies of the involved countries. However, others might take longer, influenced by the specific trade policies and regulations of each nation. To ensure fairness and effectiveness in resolving trade barriers, it is crucial to respect each country's legal and regulatory frameworks. This approach aligns with international trade norms that advocate for cooperation and compliance with global trade laws to facilitate smoother and more equitable trade.

  • Complaint Details: This includes the specifics of the complaint related to trading issues. While these details may contain data necessary to identify the nature of the problem, any personal identification information will be removed before sharing with relevant authorities or countries.

Data Removal

To delete your account permanently, please visit https://www.tradebarriers.africa/remove. You will need to sign in to verify that the account is valid before it can be removed. Upon deletion, all personal data associated with your account will be permanently erased. However, any Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs) you have reported will remain in the system anonymously; they will no longer be linked to your account, meaning focal points will not be able to contact you regarding these NTBs. If an NTB is still being processed, it may be removed entirely as any further information required to resolve the NTB might no longer be accessible. Once your account is deleted, you will not receive any further communications or feedback from the system.

How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used in the following ways:

  • To Facilitate Issue Resolution: We use the details of the complaints to facilitate resolution between the relevant trading parties and countries.

  • To Improve Our Service: We analyse information collected to understand user needs and improve our platform and services.

  • To Communicate with You: We may use your personal information to contact you for updates or to inform you about changes to our service.
